My Hope Chest...continued (pt. 2)

Recap...  (The full Hope Chest entry)
There’s one thing you’ll find out about me quickly
(Stellah Art Studios)
I’m a hopeless romantic! And just to prove my bizarre nature to you, I’m letting you in on my secret place!
This is a collection of the things from my hope chest. After a series of rocky relationships, God reminded me of His promise to send me the One He custom designed for me! And meanwhile, it was my place to prepare. What better way to prepare and show God how I’m expecting His blessing than by working my dream for real! Venture with me in this voyage of love and crazy madness in my own pursuit of love as I know itthrough art! Enjoy!
The general style is very unique, which it speaks to my eclectic nature! A dash of vintage, rustic, backwoods-country, class, and an array of colors- yellows, blues, and reds! Sunflowers you know are a must, but it will be a hodge-podge of different elements! Here are a few more things...

The vintage touch! Now I'm going to change out the white strings with hemp cord!

In the church I spent my teenage years, God laid an everlasting sermon illustration on my heart; it went something like this:
The Pastor was young boy going about his regular dinner routine, while his Mom was cleaning up the dishes. She walked back in the room and said, "Son, hold on to you fork! THE BEST IS YET TO COME!" Noting that even though he didn't know, dessert was on its way! The symbolism of holding onto that fork has stuck with me! In the same place God promised me the man He hand-crafted for me when I was 14, He gave me this to remind me! So, for our journey, I know God says the same, "Hold on to you fork! THE BEST IS YET TO COME!" Expectation is a knowing not only that He can do it, but that He will because wants to for us, because He loves us!

I started collecting old mismatched forks for our guest favors in September of last year. I plan to attach a story like this to the tea-stained tags as a remarkable reminder that God holds true to His promises, so that they too are reminded of this daily! <3
Center pieces...
(Stellah Art Studios)
Mason jars (~$0.50 each) + Jute Twine ($6.00 for one spool-will do plenty of jars and then some other knick knacks around) + The Perfect Blue Ribbon ($2.99 -I used 2 spools on 12 jars) = Cost effective center pieces!

You can add water and floating tea lights with some greenery or burlap runners ($2.98/yd and it's double the width you'll need) around the bottom for that perfect shabby-rustic-vintage look! Or you could add a few simple wild flowers to add some more color! Spot on ;)

 On to the Grub....
If you know me well, you know I can throw quite the breakfast party... at night that is! I loved growing up surprising my parents with breakfast in bed. I also grew up addicted to fruit instead of sweets. Now nearly 23, I've cut loose and I actually enjoy those sweets ;) But, I've always thought it would be fun to have a breakfast-food party at my reception. I love the idea of pancakes and fruit (I LOVE waffles, but I think pancakes would be simple and quick to serve). And the natural color fruit adds to a setting definitely makes a statement (2 birds, 1 stone)!

The Perfect Parfait Bar...

I am also thinking cupcakes are also fun and more cost effective than cake! And I can do that myself (They call me Betty Crocker)! I picked up some blue and white polka dotted cupcake wrapper/liners at AC Moore. Since I'm planning on making the colors a hodge podge of blues, reds, yellows, pinks, greens, oranges...who knows what I'll have up my sleeve...I'd love for the cake (groom-approved of course) to be red velvet with yellow-dyed cream cheese icing! Love the idea of blue/white polka dotted wrapper accenting the red of the cake with a delicate yellow on top! Ahhh!

 Something Old...

My MawMaw, Sara Wiles

"...a gentle soul, strong hands, and a heart of gold, my great grandmother"
My Great Aunt, Lou Wiles

"...the passionate warrior voice that urges me to step out in faith, my great aunt"

  Something New...
A Camellia Flower for my hair.

Camellias are a symbol of passion-the flame in my heart, longing, purity, admiration, perfection, adoration, loveliness and beauty.
  Something Blue...

The Locket

"both (pictures of my Great Grandmother and my Great Aunt) tucked ever so tightly behind the frames of this locket hugging my neck, but holding, keeping watch over my heart from above. "

I'm still working on the Something Borrowed!

I've also been working on wedding favor tags... these will go on the very special wedding favors I have planned! These will be revealed in the next week! But just for a sneak peak...here are the tags! And the general concept ;)

I'm going to make a custom stamp once I have the names, date, monogram. And there will be a special testimony story of how God brought us together for His glory on the tag!

Before
Tea Staining process to give a rustic/old world look! Easy and inexpensive!

The vintage touch! Now I'm going to change out the white strings with hemp cord!

A painting I've been working on inspired by His promise to me! It's going to be the cover of my upcoming book "The Pursuit of Unfailing Love"

Creative Endeavors: A Little Tinsel And A Lot of Lights

The Holiday Season brings a new fresh creative swing to the atmosphere. From baking to decorating, picking out that oh so perfect gift, sitting ever so close to the toasty fire with a cup of hot cinnamon apple cider, wrapped tightly in the arms of your love, all while listening to those catchy tunes across every station...we know the time of year brings so much cheer!
So whatever Creative Endeavor you have immersed yourself in this Christmas, do it all in the presence of those who are oh so dear! Here are a few of the projects in my neck of the woods!

Baking with the neighborhood kiddos...

 Creating a new mantle display...

Before
After

Making new wreaths...

Sewing stockings...

"Eden", a New Twist

In the past few weeks I've been inspired by love, poetry, and the like. I've written multiple poems and though they may read as a tad over zealous for most, those who know me well, know this is only my norm.
"They say that I feel, I feel so deeply,
But who wouldn't when you're where you're meant to be?,"
-My Only Regret, Lauren Wiles
Those who have that creative gear know exactly that excitement and drive and passion I speak of, that never ceasing tug to write, sing, paint, create, dance, draw, and so on!

In light of this wave of writing and creativity and in lew of also taking on a few new mural projects around work, I my creative wire has been lit! If you are familiar with my blog The Words Within, you know how God speaks to me through gardens in my daily walk. And you cannot think about gardens without the fragrence, the aroma of the Garden in Genesis spreading through the foreground of your mind when you ar visual person, the Garden in which it all began, Eden, with a love story of Adam and of Eve! I pondered deeply about the distinct symbols and metaphorical references- the birds, the frutation, the cage, hues-rich mountain stream blue, intriguing and alluring red, and sweet mustard, the color of warm-cheerful greetings, and phrases God has been ministering to me through in my alone time! And... what better way to express this beautiful modern-day version of Romeo and Juliet than in my own home!

Like any artist, I rarely spend time working on art for myself, but instead I love to paint the inspirations in my heart for those who the work was first inspired. This time, in juxtaposition, was quite different but just as rewarding. However creatively inspired by the walk in my daily life, along with a certain Prince (my future husband) in mind, I created a paradise for myself! A place of tranquility and light, with a sweet ambience. From the smallest details of the carefully determined colored background, to the cherry blossom tree with small red and white buds, and the soaring free bird coming to rescue his love, this bathroom tells a story of a beauty in her chamber, in waiting. As quoted above the mirror, "Love is free, free as a bird." I can rest in the harmony the story that has been created around me in my own life, my real life, not just the one inside my head (hehehe)!

Check out the entire revamp from drab to fab Eden, a New Twist!

Happy Thinking,
Stellah
